About Us

We are now in our fifth year here in Wellington, New Zealand. Kelly Sports is a franchise organisation that was launched in New Zealand in December 2006 by Robbie Kerr (a Teacher and sports centre manager) and his team.

Rachel has owned and managed Kelly Sports West since the launch in December 2006 and added the Eastern Area in Feb 2008. Kelly Sports has a proven track record in Australia (since 1994) as the largest provider of Sports programmes and clinics for school age children.
Rachel has Sports Coaching and Activity Delivery qualifications and has been actively involved in coaching school children in the UK, Germany and New Zealand for many years, originally having trained and worked as an Occupational Therapist.

Libby and Serena are in the Kelly Sports Office.
Libby has coached for Kelly Sports for 4 years and has just completed studies at Victoria University. Her main sports are hockey and football, you'll see her down at the Summer Series Football on a Friday night. Libby is now working full-time for Kelly Sports and is very excited about the year ahead. She's looking forward to growing the business, getting into new schools, new areas and new events.
Serena has been with Kelly Sports since 2010. She splits her time between coaching and admin. Serena is a cricket nut, is athletics NZ and Level 1 SPARC coaching certified and runs the Summer Series Netball on a Friday night.

The Team

In 2011 our coaching team includes a junior tall-black, an international in-line skater, a team Wellington footballer, several cricket nuts and netball fanatics.

Coaches are recruited from universities, sports associations and local sporting clubs. They are passionate about sport and children and are committed to the delivery of a fun, skill-based programme of structured activities.

All Kelly Sports Coaches are police checked and are required to have a First Aid Certificate. The Coaches participate in a thorough induction process which includes training in The Kelly Sports Way, with a focus on ensuring sessions are fun, managing groups and aspects of safety. Coaches are rewarded for holding external coaching qualifications. Coaches wear uniform and name badges to make them easily recognisable.

Charities

Each year Kelly Sports Wellington supports one charity, in the first year it was an Exerciseathon at Wellington Girls college raising money for Breast Cancer Research over $1500 was donated.

In our second year it was by Rachel having her head shaved for the Child Cancer Foundation with sponsorship raising more than $1200.

In 2010 Kelly Sports sponsored a team for the Wellington College Walkathon held in March 2010 with the money going to World Vision.

This year 2011 we have made a substantial donation through the Red Cross to the Canterbury Earthquake appeal.

Thank you to all families involved in Kelly Sports, your continuing support allows us to help others.
